4-year-old boy shot and killed in road rage incident in Lancaster, CA
On Friday evening, in Lancaster, California, a 4-year-old boy was shot and killed during a road rage incident, according to authorities. The incident occurred at approximately 7:29 p.m. in the 44600 block of Sierra Highway. The suspect, who was driving, reportedly cut off a mother and father who were traveling in the area.
Afterward, the suspect began to pursue the family through several surface streets. According to the sheriff’s department, “While being pursued by the suspects, the victim driver slowed his vehicle, at which time the suspect driver pulled up along the passenger side of the victim’s car and began shooting.” The 4-year-old boy who was in the backseat sustained a gunshot wound in the upper torso. The parents rushed the boy to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The suspect’s vehicle was located in the area soon after the shooting, and a 29-year-old man and 27-year-old woman have since been arrested in connection with the incident.
The Lancaster Mayor, R. Rex Parris, took to Facebook on Saturday to announce that the suspects were found with help from the city’s recently installed flock camera safety net. He mentioned that “In less than 24 hours, search warrants were issued, and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department SEB team served the warrants at a Lancaster hotel.”
No other injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
