As a medical student and residents, we were always taught to avoid “tunnel vision” unfortunately the same people who trained us were unknowingly walking in the tunnel.

Over the years, my perspective on dietary cholesterol and heart health has shifted. While I used to be cautious about dietary cholesterol, I now take a more holistic approach. Instead of fixating on specific numerical limits, I focus on overall dietary patterns. A plant-based diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and plant-based protein, has become my go-to recommendation for lowering LDL cholesterol and reducing cardiovascular risk. Combining lifestyle changes with evidence-based medications is essential for maintaining a healthy heart. 🌱🫐🥦
