What California Parents Need to Know About AB-10 and Its Impact on Their Children

Legislative Assembly Bill AB10, or Pupils: body-shaming model policy and resources, seeks to combat Body Shaming and promote healthy body image among California’s youth. Our assessment of AB10 will leave no stone unturned. We will delve deep into its objectives, its impact on California’s youth and parents, its current status, and the necessary steps and resources to implement it.

The significance of AB10 in promoting the mental and physical well-being of California’s youth cannot be overstated, and comprehending its components is crucial in unlocking its transformative potential.

Introduced by Lowenthal, AB10 is a legislative proposal that includes provisions related to students’ body-shaming model policy and resources. It aims to assist schools and school personnel in identifying and addressing body shaming while promoting a healthy body image among students.

The California Healthy Youth Act already covers the same objectives. However, AB10 mandates that the State Department of Education provide guidelines and resources to schools to tackle better body-shaming and its harmful effects.
