Florida Man’s Dating Experience Turns into a Shocking Nightmare after Social Media Encounter

In a bizarre turn of events, a Florida man’s selfless act of extending a helping hand to a woman and her children took a sinister twist, leaving him fighting for his life. What started as a social media encounter quickly escalated into a harrowing tale of survival and betrayal.

That’s the night the victim agreed to meet a woman and help her get some food after chatting with her on social media. After dinner, the pair decided to hang out, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release by the sheriff’s office, it has been reported that during the date, the victim willingly accompanied Fonseca and introduced him to an individual known as ‘Uncle’ Nafis Reynolds. After some time, the three individuals decided to go for a ride, and they subsequently ended up at the victim’s residence to continue their atypical date. Eventually, all parties departed from the victim’s house. However, as noted in an arrest report obtained by, when the victim expressed a desire to return home, he stated that he was allegedly assaulted by a male individual who repeatedly struck him in the head.

As the evening progressed, the trio went to Fonseca’s house, where a supposed relative, Reynolds, appeared. Later, they embarked on a car ride, visiting the victim’s residence to continue their unorthodox date. However, when the victim expressed his desire to go home, the situation took a horrifying turn.

Without warning, Fonseca’s male accomplice launched a vicious assault on the victim. As the victim struggled, Fonseca held a knife to his throat, cruelly asserting that this would be his final night. The court records reveal that both Fonseca and Reynolds inflicted deep cuts on the victim’s neck, leaving him for dead.

Adding to the heinous act, the couple seized $350 from the victim, snatched his shoes, and even stole his cell phone. Believing they had eliminated any traces of their crime, they callously attempted to dispose of the victim’s body.

After being thrown off a bridge into the water, the victim miraculously regained consciousness on the bank of the river the following day. With sheer determination, he swam to safety and sought help from passing motorists. Barefoot, battered, and covered in blood, the victim was eventually rescued by sheriff’s deputies at a gas station.

Following a thorough investigation and compelling evidence, Fonseca and Reynolds were apprehended and charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, and several drug-related offenses. Surveillance footage was crucial in establishing their involvement, capturing Fonseca with the victim, driving his car the next day, and even showing both defendants together at a gas station.
