I think Turkey needs to be added to this list and I am sure it will come out at the top . It is one of the countries where cats are well respected and fed.
Here are some statistics:

Cats are incredibly popular in Turkey, and they seem to run the place! The estimated population of cats in Istanbul alone is about 125,000, but when you consider cats with owners, that number rises to around 200,000. Some sources even suggest there could be up to a million stray cats in Istanbul¹. Overall, Turkey has a significant cat population, with approximately 4.7 million cats in the country as of 2022². Interestingly, despite this large number of street cats, only around 14% of Turkish households own a cat⁴. So, whether you're wandering through Istanbul's streets or exploring ancient sites like Ephesus, you're likely to encounter plenty of feline friends! 😺
