An inmate at the Cobb County, Georgia Adult Detention Center, Raymond Marti, recently passed away after experiencing a seizure. The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office has called upon the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate this tragic event. As the investigation continues, the Sheriff’s Office pledges to work closely with the bureau to maintain transparency and accountability. We will keep you informed as more information about this incident becomes available.

Amidst the ambiguity surrounding the prisoner’s demise, the Sheriff’s Office has kept mum over the matter. An eerie sense of deja vu looms as it isn’t the first instance where an inmate has met their demise in the confines of the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. In a previous case, 2023, Augustus Green, a 19-year-old detainee, succumbed to his life while under custody. It wasn’t long before another woman was reported dead in May 2022 after being housed at the same detention center. These tragedies have spawned doubts over the inmates’ safety and well-being, making the Sheriff’s Office take note and deploy measures to quell these concerns.

To guarantee inmate safety and general well-being, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office has outlined several measures it is adopting. These actions include ramping up employee training and reinforcement, improving the standard of medical care provided, and advancing communication channels coupled with transparency initiatives for the public. The Office further reiterated that it would work tirelessly alongside the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to ensure an extensive and unbiased probe into the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s demise.
